Fact Check: Old video depicting massive convoy of Two-wheelers and cars falsely linked to Sheikh Hasina

A video showing a convoy of two-wheelers and cars is being shared with the claim that the Indian government escorted Sheikh Hasina from Delhi to Allahabad under heavy security. However, this is an old video that has been available online since at least March 2023.

Sharing the video on X (Formerly Twitter), @MIAHAD123 wrote, “Bangladesh Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been relocated from Delhi to Allahabad under the highest security of the Indian government.”

Several other users and Influencers have also disseminated the video and made similar claims.  Their posts can be seen here: @prince827715, @zehadctg9.

The truth about video shared as sheikh hasina convoy video, Fact Check

As soon as the posts containing the video and claims came to our notice. Subsequently, we conducted research and analysis of the video. We found that the video was old and unrelated to Sheikh Hasina.

To verify the claims made by the users. We performed a reverse image search of some keyframes from the video using Google Lens. This led us to a YouTube video containing the same visuals that was uploaded in March 2023. On the other hand, Sheikh Hasina fled Bangladesh in August 2024. Additionally, there are no verified or credible sources confirming that Sheikh Hasina was taken to Allahabad under such security measures.

Moreover, a closer examination of the video reveals that most vehicle number plates begin with “CG,” and in the background, a statue of Lal Bahadur Shastri displays the text “छ ग.” These elements strongly suggest that the video was likely recorded in Chhattisgarh’s Korba.

Therefore, it is evident from D-Intent Data’s Fact Check that the video was old and unrelated to Sheikh Hasina.
