Fact Check: Old video of explosion during funeral procession from Syria falsely linked to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East

A sensitive video depicting an explosion during a funeral procession has circulated, claiming that Israel eliminated a terrorist and detonated explosives during the funeral. However, this video is actually from Syria, capturing an explosion in a funeral procession in Damascus that killed dozens in 2012. It is unrelated to the current conflict in the Middle East.

Sharing the video on X (Formerly Twitter) propagandist account @FrontalForce wrote, “Israel eliminated a terrorist,  returned his body with explosives. 100s of terrorist supporters eliminated in his janaza”.

Another account @Baliyan_x has also disseminated the video and wrote. “After killing the terrorist, Israel returned his body, hundreds of other terrorists attended his funeral. The body was filled with gunpowder, due to which many more terrorists died after the blast. Right or wrong??”

Several other users, influencers and propagandists have also disseminated the same visuals and made similar claims. Their posts can be seen here, @NazneenAkhtar23, @virjust18, @prachyam7, @coolfunnytshirt
