Fact Check: Old video of HTPB propellant model Rocket falsely linked to Manipur violence

A video featuring a rocket-propelled projectile has been circulating, claiming to show footage of the current violence in Manipur. However, this video is actually from November 2018 and was posted by a YouTube account based in the United States. The caption for the video describes it as a “Hydroxyl-terminated polybutadiene (HTPB) propellant model rocket.” It is unrelated to the situation in Manipur.

Sharing the video on X (Formerly Twitter) @OuroKenobi wrote, “Call it Pumpi, claim it indigenous, but such a rocket-propelled projectile can cause significant damage and has killed a man in Moirang. These things are illegal, and Indian security forces must crack down on whoever possesses such weapons”.
