Fact Check: Video showing people washing hands and feet unhygienically in Pakistan shared as Bangladesh

A video showing a group of people washing hands and feet unhygienically is being falsely claimed to be from Bangladesh. In reality, the video is from Pakistan. It was originally uploaded by a Pakistani Instagram influencer named Fiza, who is also featured in the video.

Sharing the video on X (Formerly Twitter) @RadioGenoa wrote, “This is Bangladesh”. As of now, the post has received more than 2 million views, 10k likes and a significant number of engagements. 

Another account @HPhobiaWatch also shared the video and wrote, “Hygiene is banned in Bangladesh?”. The post has received more than 350k views, 6k likes and a significant number of engagements.

The truth about the viral video where people washing hands and feet unhygienically, Fact Check 

As soon as the posts containing the video and claims came to our notice. Subsequently, we conducted research and analysis of the video and found that the video was not from Bangladesh, but from Pakistan.

To verify the claims made by the users. We performed a reverse image search of some key frames from the viral video using Google Lens. This led us to an Instagram post containing the same video. The video was uploaded by a Pakistani Instagram influencer Fiza (fiza_queen160). She is also featured in the video. Additionally, the policeman visible in the footage has a Pakistani flag on his uniform, further confirming the location.

Therefore, it is evident from D-Intent Data’s Fact Check that the viral video of people washing their hands, feet and mouth unhygienically was not from Bangladesh, but from Pakistan.
