Fact Check: Propagandists Spread False Claims Using Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi’s Video

Pakistan-based accounts are sharing a video of Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi, falsely claiming he admitted that Operation Sindoor was halted due to heavy losses against Pakistan. These claims are entirely fabricated. In reality, General Dwivedi never made such a statement. In the video, he clearly states: “It is too early to comment on the effect of Operation Sindoor on the LoC situation as it has not been that long since it ended. Has state-sponsored terrorism ended? I don’t think so because infiltration attempts are still happening on LoC. And we all know how many terrorists have been killed and how many of them have escaped.”

The propagandist account @TacticalTribun shared this video with the claim that Indian Army Chief admitted, for the first time, that Operation Sindoor had to be stopped after massive losses against Pakistan.

Truth: General Dwivedi’s Statement

As this claim gained traction, it caught our attention. The D-Intent Data Team investigated using keyword research and verified credible sources. Our findings point to a post by @PTI_News confirming General Upendra Dwivedi’s actual words: “It is too early to comment on the effect of Operation Sindoor on the LoC situation as it has not been that long since it ended. Has state-sponsored terrorism ended? I don’t think so because infiltration attempts are still happening on LoC. And we all know how many terrorists have been killed and how many of them have escaped.”

Intent:
Propaganda accounts are spreading misleading videos of General Dwivedi to create a false narrative against India.
