Fact Check: Protestors during Bharat Bandh conspired to set a school bus on fire in Gopalganj? 

A video has been circulated depicting a group of people creating a disturbance on the road as a school bus drives by. The video is accompanied by claims that protesters in Gopalganj during the Bharat Bandh deliberately planned to set the bus on fire. However, according to the police, the protesters were burning tyres on the road and the bus inadvertently ran over one of the tyres.

Sharing the video on X (Formerly Twitter) propagandist account @SonOfBharat7 wrote, Blue terrorists conspired to burn 35 children alive. In the name of Bharat Bandh, an attempt was made to set a school bus on fire in Gopalganj, Bihar. But by the grace of God, all the children are safe. But many children are in shock and have been taken to the hospital. (Translated from Hindi)

Another propagandist account @jpsin1 has also shared the video and wrote. The Bharat Bandh brutes conspired to burn alive about 35 children by burning a school bus full of children in Gopalganj, Bihar. But it was God’s grace that all the children escaped unhurt. (Translated from Hindi)

The truth about the video about bharat bandh, Fact Check 

As soon as the posts containing the video and claims came to our notice, we conducted research and analysis of the incident and found that the claims were not true. 

To verify the claims made by the users. We performed a relevant keyword search on Google which led us to Gopalganj’s police statement regarding the incident. According to the police, The incident occurred when the protesters were engaged in burning tyres on the road. And the school bus accidentally ran over one of the tyres. There was no intentional attempt to ignite the bus. The police have issued a statement clarifying that the incident was an accident, not an act of arson.

Hence, it is evident from police sources that the bus accidentally ran over a burning tyre, there was no conspiracy to set the school bus on fire.
