Fact Check: Scripted video of a man pushing an elderly woman as she tries to board a bus circulated as a real-life event

A video circulating online shows a young man pushing an elderly woman as she attempts to board a bus, followed by the bus driver intervening to confront him. While many social media users have shared the video claiming it depicts a real-life incident, others have used the video to spread a racist narrative, labeling the young man as Indian and targeting him based on his perceived ethnicity. However, this video is entirely staged and has no ties to actual events. It was created by Rick Lax Productions and StephC.

Sharing the video on X (Formerly Twitter) @CensoredLeak wrote, “This is what MEN used to do”. As of now, the post has received more than 1.4 million views, 30k likes and a significant number of engagements.

Serial fake news peddler, propagandist and racist account @leonardaisfunE also disseminated the video. She wrote, “Every last one is going back. And when they cry about it, you can play them this and a series of other videos of their bad behaviour.”

Several other users and Influencers have also shared the video and made similar claims. Their posts can be seen here, @Kalibre2022, @DefiantLs.

The truth about the viral video of man pushing an elderly woman, Fact Check

As soon as the posts containing the video and claims came to our notice. Subsequently, we conducted research and analysis of the video and found that the video was not related to a real-life event but scripted content.

To verify the claims made by the users. We performed a reverse image search of some key frames from the viral video using Google Lens. This led us to a YouTube video containing the same visuals. According to the YouTube channel, the original video was produced by Rick Lax Productions and StephC.

Taking a cue from the description, we visited StephC’s (Stephanie Cottas) YouTube channel and found the same video on her channel. StephC is known for creating such scripted videos for entertainment purposes.

Therefore, it is evident from D-Intent Data’s Fact Check that the viral video was not related to a real-life situation but scripted content.
