Fact Check: Scripted video of an elderly man marrying a young girl circulated with misleading claims

A video shows an elderly man sitting beside a minor girl, claiming to have married her. However, the video is entirely scripted and does not depict real-life events. Upon investigation, it was found that the video was originally uploaded on a YouTube channel called “MB TV,” which is known for creating and sharing scripted content for entertainment purposes.

Sharing the video on X (Formerly Twitter) @VHindus71 wrote, “A 76-year-old man named Rozob Ali married to a 12-year-old girl named Sakina Bibi.”

Propaganda account @BattaKashmiri also shared the video and wrote, “This is happening in Bangladesh. Mohammad is 76 years old. The girl is an orphan 12 year old. Mohammad wants to take care so he marries her. Any guesses where from a 76 year old man gets the idea to marry a child ?

The truth about the viral video of an elderly man marrying a young girl, Fact Check 

As soon as the posts containing the video and claims came to our notice. Subsequently, we conducted research and analysis of the video and found that the video was not a real-life situation but scripted content.

To verify the claims made by the users. We performed a reverse image search of some key frames from the viral video using Google Lens. This led us to a YouTube video containing the same visuals and activities. 

The video was originally uploaded on a YouTube channel called “MB TV.” This channel is known for producing and sharing scripted content for entertainment purposes. 

Upon visiting the YouTube channel’s timeline we found multiple videos (1, 2) depicting similar activities. Additionally, the YouTube channel describes itself as an entertainment channel.
