Fact Check: Scripted video of an individual inappropriately touching a woman sitting on a public chair shared with misleading claims 

A video depicting an individual inappropriately touching a woman seated on a public bench, followed by a confrontation from a man accompanying her, has circulated with the false claim that it shows an Indian man committing an indecent act in a foreign country. However, these assertions are entirely misleading. The video is staged and was scripted, produced, and uploaded by Matthew Bandeira, known as Matt TV, solely for entertainment purposes. 

Sharing the video on X (Formerly Twitter) propagandist account @yeazlas wrote, “Indian men are embracing the chagnonpill in foreign lands.”

Serial fake news peddler and propagandist account @AsianDigest also shared the video and wrote. “He thought its India and all men would pounce on her”.

As soon as the posts containing the video and claims came to our notice. Subsequently, we conducted research and analysis of the video. We found that the video was not a real-life situation but scripted content.

After closely examining the video, we noticed the Instagram username (@matt.tvmedia). Upon reviewing the account’s timeline, we found the same video along with multiple other parts featuring the same individuals engaged in similar activities.

The video is scripted and was created and uploaded by Matthew Bandeira, also known as Matt TV. It is purely for entertainment purposes and has no basis in reality. Several parts of the same video (1, 2, 3, 4), featuring the same individuals in similar scenarios, can be found on their Instagram account.

Therefore, it is evident from verified sources that the video was not a real-life situation but scripted content.

Extremists and propagandist accounts are circulating scripted videos with false and fabricated claims to target India and Indians.
