The video circulated with misleading claims
Several users, influencers, propagandists and political workers have shared the video and claimed that the man was an Indian-origin person in the UK.
Sharing the video on X (Formerly Twitter), Propagandist account Dhruv Rathee Parody (@dhruvrahtee) wrote. Mukesh Shah, showing his culture in a metro in London. Which Genes is this? The post has received more than 600k views and a significant number of engagements.

Another account @NazneenAkhtar10 has also shared the video and wrote, The name of this fanatic Tanatani Jhandu is Mukesh Shah. He was demonstrating Tanatani culture while sitting on a London train. The police have arrested him. When asked, he said that the Tanatani people demonstrate like this in front of their sisters and it is a part of their culture. (Translated from Hindi)

The truth about the viral video, Fact Check
As soon as the posts containing the video, reports and claims came to our notice. Subsequently, we conducted research and analysis of the incident and found that the viral video was recent. And unrelated to the public masturbation incidents involving an Indian-origin man in the UK.
To verify the claims made by the users. We performed a reverse image search of some key frames from the viral video on Google Lens. This led us to initial posts containing the video. According to the initial posts(1, 2, 3), the video was recorded on a train in New York.
Upon closer examination, it is evident that the video was recorded in the USA. The person depicted in the video does not resemble Mukesh Shah, the individual accused in the UK incident. Additionally, the interior of the subway car is similar to New York City’s subway system. Furthermore, an advertisement for “FIGS,” a sponsor of the Olympic Team USA, is visible in the footage, further confirming the American location.
