Fact Check: Video from Houthis Military parade in Yemen falsely shared as protest against blasphemy

A video has been circulated claiming to show a large crowd of Muslims protesting against Yati Narsighanand in foreign countries over his remarks about the Prophet. However, the reality is that the video is from an old event in Yemen, capturing a crowd during a military parade organized by the Houthis to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the seizure of Sanaa. It has no connection to any protests related to blasphemy.

Sharing the video on X (Formerly Twitter) propagandist account @NazneenAkhtar23 wrote. Gustak_e_Nabi protests are happening in other countries, it seems the Muslims of our country are asleep. If you are awake then give proof of being awake and repost this so much that this fugitive Narsinghanand gets arrested. Rt should not stop and keep writing until he is arrested, #ArrestNarsinghanand

Several other users, influencers and propagandists on different social media platforms have also shared the video and made similar claims. Their posts can be seen here, (1, 2)

The truth about the viral video shared as crowd protesting against Yati Narsighanand, Fact Check

As soon as the posts containing the video and claims came to our notice. Subsequently, we conducted research and analysis of the video. And found that the video was not related to any protest against blasphemy but to a military parade.

To verify the claims made by the users. We performed a reverse image search of some key frames from the viral video on Google Lens. This led us to media reports containing the visuals from the same event. According to the media reports (1, 2, 3), the video depicts a parade organized by the Houthis to mark the 10th anniversary of the seizure of Sanaa, on  September 21, 2024.

After a thorough examination of the video, we identified that the posters, the flag, and the background elements in the viral video are exactly the same as those found in the verified footage shared by reputable media outlets.

Therefore, it is evident from verified sources that the viral video was from Yemen. And unrelated to any protest against Yati Narsighanand for his remarks about the Prophet.
