Fact Check: Video of fight between two Muslim families in Amroha circulated with communal claims 

A video showing a group attacking another group with sticks has been shared with claims that it depicts a religious hate crime against a Muslim family in Amroha, Uttar Pradesh. However, reports indicate that the video actually captures a personal dispute between two Muslim families.

Sharing the video on X (Formerly Twitter), @AmjadAsR wrote, “Look at the fury of UP.  Posts should not stop until arrests are made. A Muslim family is being brutally beaten up by goons after entering their house!! The viral video is said to be a case of Bagdpur Kala of the Dehat police station area of Amroha!!” (Translated from Hindi).

Another account, @SubhasSadhu4, also disseminated the video and wrote, “THIS IS NEW HINDU TERRORIST INDIA UNDER MODI WHERE HINDU TERRORISTS CAN ENTER THE HOUSES OF ANY MUSLIM FAMILY AND BEAT THEM UP WITH IMPUNITY.”

The truth about the video of fight between two Muslim families from Amroha, Fact Check 

As soon as the posts containing the video and claims came to our notice. Subsequently, we conducted research and analysis of the video. We found that the video was related to a fight between two Muslim families.

To verify the claims made by propagandists. We performed a relevant keyword search and found media reports regarding the incident. According to media reports (1, 2), the video actually captures a personal dispute between two Muslim families. The incident took place in Bagarpur Kalan village under the jurisdiction of Amroha Dehat police station and is unrelated to any religious hate crime. Both the accused and the victims belong to the same community.

Therefore, it is evident from verified sources that the video was related to a fight between two Muslim families. Nothing to do with religious hate crimes.

Propagandists are circulating videos from Amroha with misleading claims to set their narrative based on religion.
