Fact Check: Video of vehicles passing through potholes, not from Gujarat, India 

A video recently circulated on social media platforms claims to depict vehicles passing through potholes in Gujarat, India. However, D-Intent Data has discovered that the viral video is not from Gujarat, India but an old video from a different location. A thorough examination reveals that the footage is actually from a foreign country.

Sharing the video on X (Formerly Twitter) @PrahladDalwadi said, “PM Modi Saheb ni Saath . Maru Gujarat che Tayyar As Amitabh Bachhan once said “अरे कुछ दिन तो गुज़ारो गुजरात में” . I say “अंजर पंजर ढीले होने की गारंटी” Andhra Pradesh soon to adopt the Gujarat Model”. He later deleted the post.

Another user, Chirag Patel (@tuvter) also shared the video and said. “This is world class Gujarat Health Model after 3 decades of governance. Thank you @Bhupendrapbjp and @narendramodi”

The truth about the viral video of vehicles passing through potholes, Fact Check 

As soon as the posts containing the video and claims came to our notice, we conducted research and analysis of the video and found that the viral video was not from Gujarat, India.

To verify the claims circulating on social media. We performed a reverse image search of some key frames from the viral video on Google. This led us to initial posts containing the same visuals. 

Additionally, the origin of the video has been identified as being from China based on initial posts and claims on YouTube, Chinese websites, and apps. The video in question was uploaded to YouTube in July 2020 under the title “Potholes on Chinese Roads After Heavy Rain”.

Moreover, after reviewing the video more closely, it has become apparent that the vehicles showcased in the footage are Chinese-made models, such as the FAW TRUCKS (JH6 truck), indicating their origin. In addition, the language seen on billboards and signs in the video background seems to be Chinese. 

Hence, it is evident from D-Intent Data’s Fact Check that the video depicting vehicles passing through potholes is not related to Gujarat, India.
