Fact Check: Viral Execution Video Falsely Linked to Hamas Capturing Indian Soldiers

A highly disturbing video showing an armed man executing a group of uniformed individuals on a roadside has gone viral on social media. The video is being shared with the alarming claim that Hamas has captured and executed Indian soldiers fighting for Israel in the ongoing Israel–Palestine conflict. However, the truth is that this video is neither recent nor related to Indian soldiers or the current conflict—it has been online since late 2024.

An influencer who initially shared the video under the handle @Tahmina62344037 later changed their username to @iqbal62344037 after the post gained attention.

So @iqbal62344037  posted this video with the claim:

“These Israeli soldiers captured by Hamas are Indian…!” Hamas usually does not kill Israeli soldiers unless they attack or act aggressively; they are taken captive instead.Look closely in the video — their bodies and faces don’t resemble those of Israelis. Also, Israeli soldiers typically do not keep mustaches.

Multiple propaganda accounts have posted this video with emotionally charged captions to amplify the message.
However, this claim is entirely false and misleading.

Truth Behind the Viral Execution Video

When this post grabbed our attention, the D-Intent Data Team launched an immediate investigation. We conducted a detailed frame-by-frame analysis and used reverse image search tools to trace the source of the video. Our investigation revealed that the footage has been online since at least November 2024 and is not related to the current Israel–Palestine conflict. Preliminary sources indicate that the video actually shows rebel groups executing Syrian Army personnel, not Indian soldiers as claimed. Furthermore, there is no credible or official evidence confirming the involvement of Indian military forces in any combat operations for Israel. This disturbing clip is being circulated completely out of context, with a false narrative designed to mislead viewers.

This is another clear example of misinformation using old violent content to spread panic and push a geopolitical agenda.

Intent:

Propaganda accounts are circulating old videos from unrelated conflicts, attaching self-made claims to target India and mislead the public.
