The false allegation that an 8-year-old girl from a different caste was beaten up by Hindus for drinking water inside a temple without permission has been spread along with a disturbing and sensitive video showing a group of men beating a young girl while a few women watch the violence.

@NidhiSinghRH claimed in a twitter post that the 8 year old girl of a different caste was beaten up by Hindus because she drank water from the temple without taking permission.

Several other accounts, including @Anil_Aazad_, @Manishkumarttp made the same claim that the young 8-year old girl, who was of a different caste, drank water inside a temple and was beaten up by the Hindus. The archive can be read from above.

What is the Actual Truth About this Incident? : Fact

The truth is that these assertions are unfounded and fraudulent. This is an old footage from Amethi, Uttar Pradesh, where in December 2021 a young Dalit girl was beaten up on suspicion of stealing. Strict action was taken, and the suspects responsible for the terrible act were placed into custody. We visited Times of India, which published an article on this incident on December 29, 2021 with the headline “Uttar Pradesh: Minor Dalit Girl Brutalised Over Suspicion Of Theft, Three Arrested”. The video, which lasts more than a minute, shows two guys forcing a teenage girl to the ground while a third man uses a stick to strike her on the soles of her feet. The girl was allegedly charged with theft. In the footage, the girl is also seen being questioned by three women. One of the males strikes the girl once again as she writhes in agony, pulling her to the ground and snatching her by the hair. Three persons were arrested after a video purportedly showing a minor dalit girl being thrashed over suspicion of theft in Amethi went viral on the social media.

Further, on Dec 29, 2021 @amethipolice tweeted “#amethipolice Amethi Police Station arrested the three accused who beat up a minor girl.”

@amethipolice made another tweet on Dec 29, 2021 regarding this incident. It tweeted “#amethipolice Amethi Police Station arrested Shubham Gupta alias Shakal, the main accused of beating a minor girl.”
