Fact Check: Viral Video of Woman Putting Toddler in Refrigerator Is Scripted, Not Real

A disturbing video showing a woman placing a toddler inside a refrigerator while speaking on a mobile phone is circulating online with claims that it depicts a real-life incident and highlights parental negligence. The claim is false. The video is not real and does not show an actual incident involving a child.

The misleading clip was shared by social media accounts such as @swetasamadhiya, @cctvincidents and @Digital_khan01, who presented it as a real incident and criticised the woman’s behaviour. These posts lacked context and ignored the original disclaimer attached to the video.

Truth: Video Is Scripted Content With a Clear Disclaimer

As the false claim gained traction on social media, it drew our attention. The D-Intent Data Team conducted a detailed frame-by-frame investigation and keyword research. Our analysis led us to the Facebook account Sanjjanaa Galrani, which uploaded the video in March 2024. The same content also appeared on the IdeasFactory page with a caption indicating dramatic storytelling.

Importantly, the original post includes a clear disclaimer stating that the video is a scripted drama created solely for entertainment and educational purposes. The creator regularly posts staged content and explicitly informs viewers that the scenes are not real-life events. Therefore, the viral claims portraying this video as a genuine incident are false and misleading.

Intent:

Influencers are circulating scripted videos without providing the actual information to get the spotlight on social media.
