False Claim: India Excluded from SCO-Level Meeting with China, Russia, Iran & Pakistan

Propaganda accounts based in Pakistan are spreading a baseless narrative that China, Iran, Russia, and Pakistan held a closed-door NSA-level meeting under the SCO (Shanghai Cooperation Organization) framework, and India was not invited. However, No SCO-level meeting excluding India took place. India attended the SCO Defence Ministers’ meeting but didn’t sign the joint statement due to weak language on terrorism.

An propagandist account, @NavCom24 falsely posted:

“China, Iran, Russia and Pakistan to hold a closed-door NSA-level meeting under SCO, India not invited.”

On Instagram corpwire also post this and claim:

High-level NSA meeting is scheduled among China, Iran, Russia, and Pakistan under the SCO framework, but India has not been invited. This development highlights shifting regional dynamics and strategic alignments.

Several other accounts including @thinking_panda, @asadnasir2000, and @DefenseDiplomat and fb account Pakistan Strategic Prism also pushed this fabricated narrative across platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and X.

Truth: India Attended SCO Meet, Didn’t Sign Over Terror Concerns

As this post gained traction, it drew our attention. The D Intent Data Team started the investigation immediately. We conducted keyword searches and reviewed government sources such as MEA, Reuters, AP News, BBC, and The Economic Times. There is no credible evidence or official confirmation of any such meeting excluding India. In fact, the only verified development is that India declined to sign the SCO Defence Ministers’ joint communiqué held in China, as it did not adequately address India’s concerns on terrorism.

Intent:

Propaganda accounts are spreading self-invented narratives about SCO meetings to malign India’s standing in international forums.
