The truth about the video of a cloud falls from the sky in China, Fact Check

As soon as the posts containing the video and claims came to our notice. Subsequently, we conducted research and analysis regarding the incident and found that the video was neither filmed in China nor related to natural clouds.

To verify the claims made by the users. We performed a reverse image search of some key frames from the viral video using Google Lens. This led us to several media reports containing the same visuals.

According to the media reports (1, 2, 3), the incident occurred in Central Kalimantan, Indonesia. BMKG clarified the incident and said that white objects found floating from the sky until slowly descending to the ground surface in Murung Raya Regency, Central Kalimantan were not a natural cloud, but a condensation of water vapor or gas due to human activity that occurs in the mining area.

Additionally, upon closer observation of the video, we found that the workers around the object are associated with “Adaro Energy“, an Indonesian coal mining company.

Therefore, it is evident from D-Intent Data’s Fact Check that the viral video was neither filmed in China nor related to natural clouds.
