Video Of Maharashtra Police Dispersing Crowd In Ghatkopar Falsely Being Linked To Uttarakhand’s Haldwani Violence: Fact-Check 

A video purporting to show police breaking up a crowd gathering has gone viral, with accusations that Muslims in Uttarakhand’s Haldwani are being beaten by the police.

Verified accounts on twitter, including @MrHaque_ tweeted “Constitutional policemen lathicharge on Muslims in Haldwani, Uttarakhand, the new India created by BJP. #HaldwaniRiots #Haldwani” and shared the video of the incident on Feb 9, 2024. The tweet has received an about 217.4k views on X.

Several other accounts, including @TheMuslim786, @chandnii__, @NoorAis15246595, @umarFaruqu88326, @newsIndia78, @AiCreator_1 made the same claim that police in Uttarakhand’s Haldwani are beating people from the Muslim community based on the viral video that has been circulated showing police dispersing a crowd. What is the Actual Truth About this Incident? : Fact

The same video, purportedly showing Maharashtra police scattering Maulana Mufti Salman Azhari’s supporters in Mumbai’s Ghatkopar, went viral a few days prior to the Haldwani unrest. His recent arrest stemmed from his hate speech at a public event. Haldwani is not relevant to this. Undoubtedly unrelated to the Haldwani Riots, this specific video was made available prior to Haldwani and features a Maharastra-registered vehicle.

Extremists are circulating videos from Maharashtra claiming from Haldwani to set their propaganda. A video that shows Police dispersing a crowd has been shared, claiming that police are beating people belonging to the Muslim community in Uttarakhand’s Haldwani. A few days prior to the Haldwani disturbances, a video purporting to show Maharashtra police scattering Maulana Mufti Salman Azhari’s supporters in Ghatkopar, Mumbai, went viral. He was recently taken into custody for using hate speech in a public circumstance. Haldwani is not involved in any way. This specific video is undoubtedly unrelated to the Haldwani Riots because it was released prior to Haldwani and the car seen in it is registered in Maharastra.
