What is the Actual Truth About this Incident? : Fact

These assertions are untrue. There are no hatches on the submarine, according to reports. The Russian double-hulled Arihant, features a sealed nuclear reactor portion. No other nation with nuclear submarines has a system like this, with the exception of the newest French nuclear submarines, which feature a hatch above the reactor enabling speedier refuelling. We visited The Economic Times, which published an article on this incident on Jan 12, 2018 with the headline “Deep diving into the facts about INS Arihant ‘accident’ “. It clearly added “The submarine has no hatches there. The Arihant is based on Russian double hull design with a sealed nuclear reactor section. Except for the latest French nuclear submarines that have a hatch above the reactor for quicker refuelling, no other country with nuclear submarines have such a system.”. The container that holds the generator, gearbox, steam turbine, and propeller shaft does not have any exterior hatches. Normal conditions prohibit sea water from entering the submarine, and with not a non-existent hatch. Moreover, no modern submarine with several sensors could possibly lack a warning system for an open hatch in any other region of the submarine critical for survival.

These claims are not true. According to reports, the submarine has no hatches there. The Arihant is based on a Russian double-hull design with a sealed nuclear reactor section. Except for the latest French nuclear submarines, which have a hatch above the reactor for quicker refueling, no other country with nuclear submarines has such a system.

Conclusion:

Fact : These statements are untrue. There are reportedly no hatches on the submarine. A Russian double-hulled vessel with a sealed nuclear reactor component served as the model for the Arihant. Except for the latest French nuclear submarines, which include a hatch above the reactor for faster refuelling, no other country with nuclear submarines has a similar arrangement.
