What is the Actual Truth About this Incident? : Fact
The CEO of Tripura and Collector West Tripura both assert that this information is wholly untrue and deceptive. There were several polling stations in the West Tripura Parliamentary constituency where a significant amount of election officials voted under Election Duty Certificate (EDC), resulting in a polling percentage of more than 100%. Election officials are permitted by the EDC to cast votes at any polling station within their parliamentary constituency. The high percentage results from certain votes being submitted, as is normal, using the election duty certificate issued by the on-duty polling staff. There are no issues with the EVM.
@DMWest_Tripura tweeted “High percentage is because of fact some votes are casted using election duty certificate by the polling staff on duty which is a normal procedure and EVM has no malfunctioning. @ceotripura @Tripura_Police” on April 24, 2024.
