Social media users are sharing a video of a girl who is unconscious and surrounded by people seeking for help while the crowd was just making videos of her instead of helping her. The video has gone viral.
Verified accounts on twitter, including @NigarNawab tweeted “Watch this video, your soul will really tremble, tears will come to your eyes, how cruel people have become. The 12 year old innocent girl is lying soaked in blood and is in pain, extending her hand for help. People are bending over and making videos. Look carefully at these faces.” on October 24, 2022.
The video once again became viral and got resurfaced in 2024. @ownthoughts_24 made the similar claim for this incident in a twitter post by tweeting “A 12 year old Catholic Christian girl, who has been sexually assaulted, is bleeding and pleading for help. Shockingly, instead of coming to her aid, these hindus are focused on recording video and pictures of her in India.”. The tweet was made on April 1, 2024, which has received an about more than 5k views on X.
Several other accounts, including @Adamiington, @RahulAgrawal, @ShaykhSulaiman made the same claim that the 12-year old Christian girl was sexually assaulted and she was seeking for help while she was bleeding. What is the Actual Truth About this Incident? : Fact
The viral video is from Kannauj in Uttar Pradesh. Even though there were a few curious people recording her, which is inappropriate, the crowd alerted the police, allowing her to be taken to the hospital.
We visited firstpost.com, which published an article on this incident on October 25, 2022 with the headline “UP: 12-year-old girl begs for help lying in a pool of blood after rape, but men around shamelessly film her”. The young girl is seen lifting her hand and attempting to contact the individuals for assistance, but she is unsuccessful since they are recording. In the video, the wounded girl is seen being shot by at least three or four males using cellphones from various angles. But, few individuals informed the police to take her to the hospital. Some people were discussing about whether police was informed or not, some were asking for the police chief’s number.The girl, who was dumped at the back of Dak Bangla guest house in Kannauj, waited until a senior police officer arrived and picked her up in his arms. The family informed that the girl went to buy a piggy bank in the afternoon and later when she did not return home, her parents searched for her. The girl was referred from Kannauj District hospital to Kanpur after being referred by doctors keeping her critical condition in view. The locals claimed that she was gang-raped and thrown there. But, the police denied the claims made by the residents.
