Video Of Boats Accident From Kerala Circulated as Lakshadweep: Fact-Check 

A video purporting to be from Lakshadweep has been circulated showing a boat accident.

Verified accounts on twitter, including Hassan Kurusee (“@HKurusee“) shared the video of the incident in a twitter post and claimed that the video of the boat accident is from Lakshadweep. The tweet was made on Ja 11, 2024, which has received an about 93.7k views on X.

The video originates from Kerala, where last month’s Champions Boat League Pandanad Boat race resulted in an accident involving two boats. It is unrelated to the Lakshadweep tourism.

An article was published by Pathanamthittha regarding this incident on Dec 3, 2023 with the headline “During the boating, the boat crashed into the chundan boat and the accident happened”. As per the reports, the boat driver was taken into the police custody. The video was uploaded in Youtube on Dec 3, 2023.
