Fact Check: A decade-old image of a Singaporean woman defecating publicly in Singapore falsely shared as an Indian TikToker in Canada

An image showing a woman defecating in public has been circulated with claims that it depicts an Indian TikToker openly defecating at Toronto Pearson International Airport in Canada. However, D-Intent Data has found that this image is actually an old photograph from Singapore, taken in August 2014, which shows a Singaporean woman with an intellectual disability defecating on the street outside the Holland Village MRT station.

Sharing the image on X (Formerly Twitter), @BlondeBigot wrote. “Do do all Indians have IBS or something? In my entire life, I’ve never had to take a shit in public”. The postcard reads Indian TikToker spotted taking a shit at Toronto Pierson airport.

Several other users, influencers and propagandists have also shared the image and made similar claims. Their posts can be seen here, @FloridaManPig, @diksacayahova

The truth about the viral photo shared as Indian TikToker in Canada, Fact Check

As soon as the posts containing the image and claims came to our notice. Subsequently, we conducted research and analysis of the image. And found that the image was not from Canada but Singapore and unrelated to any Indian woman.

To verify the claims made by the users. We performed a reverse image search on Google Lens. This led us to several media reports containing the same image. According to the media reports (1, 2, 3), the image was from Singapore where a 34-year-old woman with ‘intellectual disability’ defecated on the street outside the Holland Village MRT station in August 2014. The woman was a Singaporean. Hence, it was unrelated to Canada’s Toronto Pearson International Airport and Indian-origin individuals.

Therefore, it is evident from D-Intent Data’s Fact Check that the viral photo is neither from Canada nor has any connection with any Indian woman.

Anti-India propagandists are circulating old images from Singapore with misleading claims to set their narrative against India and Indians.
