A video showing an individual removing the U.S. and U.N. flags while leaving the Palestinian flag untouched is being falsely shared as a reaction to Zohran Mamdani’s alleged victory in the 2025 New York City mayoral election. In reality, this video is not recent and has no connection to any election. It and old clip back of 2023.
A propaganda account @coolfunnytshirt captioned the video:
“A Muslim takes down the American flag in New York. Beginning of Ummahrica!”
Another account @TimRunsHisMouth posted this claim too:
Muslims ripping down American flags in NYC… You get exactly what you voted for…
Several other accounts, including @marianatimes, @CPAC, and @scottadamsshow, amplified the false claim and falsely linking them to the 2025 New York City mayoral election results to set their narrative.
Truth: its the 2023 Protest Video
As the clip gained traction, it caught the attention. The D-Intent Data Team starts the investigation. We conducted a reverse image and frame-by-frame video analysis using Google tools. Our investigation led us to the youtube channel The Times of India who covered this news. which confirmed that the video is from a pro-Palestinian demonstration held in New York City in November 2023 and has no connection to the 2025 election or Zohran Mamdani. The same footage was uploaded by the Times of India on November 12, 2023, and also reported by Fox News.
