A propaganda account, @ZardSi, posted this video claiming: “Amid the ongoing protest in Nepal, a group of people were waving the Indian flag when another group suddenly snatched it and burned it.”
Truth: Old 2022 Video From Manipur
As this claim gained traction, it drew our attention. The D-Intent Data Team investigated using reverse image research and frame by frame analysis. Our investigation traced the video back to August 2022, when it was first uploaded on Facebook by Ningtam Paojel, who captioned it with references to “Kangleipak/Manipur.” This indicates that the footage is related to separatist activity in Manipur, Northeast India, and not Nepal.
The same video was also covered by Plamanipur.com under the headline “Burning down the Indian flag.” The post references historical grievances tied to October 15, 1949 when Manipur merged with India and describes the act as part of anti-India sentiment observed on Independence Day.
Therefore, this footage has no link with the current protests in Nepal. It is being misused out of context to spread anti-India propaganda.
