Fact Check: Video of Bangladeshi fans taking selfies with actress and presenter Yesha Sagar circulated with misleading claims

A video circulating online shows a group of young men taking selfies with a woman as she walks toward her car. The video is being shared with the claim that an Indian girl visiting Bangladesh was harassed by locals. However, this claim is entirely misleading. The woman in the video is not a random Indian girl or tourist, but Yesha Sagar, an Indian-born Canadian model, actress, fitness influencer, and cricket presenter. She is in Bangladesh to cover the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) as a host for Chittagong Kings.

Sharing the video on X (Formerly Twitter) propaganda account @FrontalForce wrote, “Bangladeshis harassing an Indian girl who was visiting Bangladesh”.

Another propaganda account @HPhobiaWatch also disseminated the video and wrote, “Kanglus found an Indian tourist and can’t stop harassing her. Imagine the rotten fish smell she has to gone through.”

Several other users and Influencers have also shared the video and made similar claims. Their posts can be seen here, @Ankoor_X, @drakeslayer100.

The truth about the video, Fact Check

As soon as the posts containing the video and claims came to our notice. Subsequently, we conducted research and analysis of the video. We found that the video was unrelated to a random Indian female tourist and harassment.

To verify the claims made by the users. We performed a reverse image search of some key frames from the viral video using Google Lens. This led us to a TikTok post containing the same visuals and mentioned the name of the girl Yesh Sagar. Taking a cue from the TikTok post, we further ran a relevant keyword search and found her Instagram account and media reports (1, 2).

According to the available credible sources, the woman in the video is not a random Indian girl or tourist, but Yesha Sagar, an Indian-born Canadian model, actress, fitness influencer, and cricket presenter. She is in Bangladesh to cover the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) as a host for Chittagong Kings. There is no evidence of harassment in the video. In fact, Yesha herself has never reported any such experience. During an interview, she expressed her gratitude for the hospitality she received in Bangladesh.

Therefore, it is evident from verified sources that the woman was an actress and presenter, not a random Indian female tourist.
