Fact-Check: False Claim Indian Army Performed “Bottoms Up” Surrender Drill at Jammu Border

Pakistan-based propaganda accounts are circulating an image of soldiers performing a drill on muddy ground, claiming that on 10 May 2025, the entire Indian Army camp at the Jammu border came out of their base and performed a “bottoms up” maneuver to request a ceasefire from the Pakistan Army. This claim is entirely false and fabricated. No such event has taken place. In fact, the ceasefire request came from Pakistan’s side, not India’s. The viral image is taken from a video of a military training exercise available on YouTube.

The claim was pushed by propaganda account @InsiderWB, which alleged that Indian soldiers surrendered through a symbolic gesture.

10 May 2025 Indian army soldiers came out of their base at a border camp in Jammu and did a bottoms up maneuver to request a ceasefire from Pakistan.

The narrative was further amplified by @ViRgoGirL_T@Shoa_70, @KiranKhanViews and @DimpleGirlii who circulated the same misinformation widely across social media platforms.

Truth: Pakistan Requested Ceasefire, Image is from Training Drill

As this claim gained traction, it drew our attention. The D-Intent Data Team investigated using reverse image search and credible media sources. Our findings led us to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) website, which clearly documents that on 10 May 2025, it was Pakistan’s Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) who called the Indian DGMO to request a ceasefire. Both sides agreed to stop all firing and military action effective 1700 hours IST, with another round of talks scheduled for 12 May.

Further, multiple credible outlets including NDTVTimes of India, and The Economic Times confirmed that Pakistan sought the ceasefire after suffering significant losses under Operation Sindoor, where Indian forces struck key Pakistani airbases including Nur Khan. Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar later admitted publicly that it was Islamabad, not New Delhi, that called for a ceasefire.

Additionally, the viral image was traced to YouTube channels  @commandobibhu and @defenderfauji12, where it appears as part of a training drill, not any battlefield event.

The claim that Indian soldiers performed a “bottoms up” maneuver at the Jammu border is fabricated. The truth is that Pakistan requested the ceasefire, and the viral image originates from a routine training exercise.

Intent:

Propaganda accounts are circulating self-invented claims about the recent tensions between India and Pakistan to set their narrative against India.
