Fact Check: Viral France 24 Video Linking RAW to Bangladeshi Killing Is Fake

Pakistani propagandists are circulating a digitally altered video of France 24 anchor and journalist Genie Godula, falsely claiming that she reported the killing of Bangladeshi Gen-Z leader Sharif Osman Hadi and linked the incident to India’s intelligence agency, RAW. The viral clip alleges that India hired agents to assassinate him and continues to sponsor terrorism globally. This claim is entirely fake and fabricated. The video has been digitally manipulated, and no such report was ever aired by France 24.

The false narrative was spread by multiple Pakistani propaganda accounts, including @ZardanSi, @MDUmairKh, @BDMILITARY, @fake_burster, @AhmedShahAzfar, and @KristineRicherd, all of which shared the altered clip while presenting it as an authentic France 24 news report.

Truth: France 24 Never Reported Such Claims, Video Is Digitally Manipulated

As the false claim gained traction on social media, it drew our attention. The D-Intent Data Team conducted a detailed frame-by-frame investigation and keyword research. We closely analysed the viral clip and found clear signs of digital manipulation, including mismatched audio, altered captions, and reused visuals. Our investigation led us to the official France 24 English (@France24_en) platforms, where no report exists linking India or RAW to the death of Sharif Osman Hadi.

Further verification revealed that the footage used in the viral clip was lifted from an older France 24 broadcast featuring Genie Godula from August 2024. In the original video, she made no mention of Bangladesh, Osman Hadi, or India’s intelligence agencies. The narrative was artificially inserted by editing the visuals and audio to mislead viewers.

Intent:

Propagandists are circulating digitally altered videos of foreign media outlets with self-invented claims to set their narrative against India.
