Another account @Saralsuman1 also shared the video and wrote, “This is not obscenity – this is a rebellion against Muslim religious extremism. A protest in Paris led by Kurdish (Kurdish – who are Muslim) women against the hijab (burqa). The movement focuses on issues such as the burqa, honor killings, forced marriage, gender inequality, and more. I support” ( Translated from Nepali)

The truth about the viral video of semi-naked Kurdish Muslim women protest, Fact Check

As soon as the posts containing the video and claims came to our notice. Subsequently, we conducted research and analysis of the video and found that the video doesn’t depict Muslim women protesting against the burqa.

To verify the claims made by the users. We performed a reverse image search of some key frames from the viral video using Google Lens. This led us to media reports (1, 2)and social media posts containing the same visuals.

According to the reports, The footage was actually taken in France, during a demonstration organized by the feminist group “FEMEN FRANCE OIO” on the occasion of the “International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.” The protest took place in Paris and aimed to raise awareness about violence against women.

We also found a statement on the FEMEN FRANCE OIO’s Instagram account regarding the protest. Upon visiting the timeline of @femen_france, we found multiple videos (1, 2) depicting similar activities indicating that this group organises such semi-naked protests frequently.

Therefore, it is evident from verified sources that the video does not depict Muslim women protesting against the burqa. It is related to a feminist group FEMEN FRANCE OIO.
