Fact Check: Viral Video Claiming Street Vendor Used Sweat to Make Chapati Is Fake

A video circulating on social media shows a street food vendor allegedly using his sweat while preparing chapati. The clip is being shared as a real-life incident to claim unhygienic food practices. This claim is false. The video does not depict a genuine event and has been digitally created using artificial intelligence.

The AI-generated video was shared and amplified by social media accounts @ekm1982 and @BGatesIsaPyscho, with captions suggesting that street food vendors secretly contaminate food.

Truth: Video Is AI-Generated, Not a Real Incident

As the false claim gained traction on social media, it drew our attention. The D-Intent Data Team conducted a detailed frame-by-frame investigation and keyword research. A closer examination of the video revealed several clear inconsistencies. The rolling pin used by the vendor has an unusual, impractical handle that is rarely seen in real kitchens. Meanwhile, the customers visible in the background remain completely motionless, which is inconsistent with real-life human behaviour. These visual flaws strongly indicate artificial generation. Our findings led us to the TikTok account @ye8en1 (MAQB0L), which identifies itself as a video designer and regularly uploads similar AI-generated clips. The account provides no real-world context, location, or verification for the footage.

Additionally, AI-detection tools flagged the video as artificially generated, further confirming that it is not authentic. The clip was created purely for engagement and shock value and does not represent a real street food incident.

Intent:

Influencers are circulating AI-generated videos without providing the actual information to get the spotlight on social media and target a particular country.
