On the last day of July 2023, communal Violence erupted between two communities (Hindus and Muslims) in the Nuh district of Haryana during the “Braj Mandal Jalabhishek Yatra” Subsequently communal violence was reported from Gurugram and Sohna on the evening of the same day. Resulting in multiple killings and leaving others injured. Several vehicles were set on fire and public property was damaged by rioters. After the communal unrest in the state of Haryana, opportunists are circulating false claims regarding the violence as per their agenda. A video has been disseminated by social media influencers that depicts police taking action against people, the video shows police chasing away people and mercilessly beating them up with sticks. Research, Analysis and Fact
As soon as we faced the video we tried to know the reality behind the video. Upon research, we found the same video on a YouTube channel uploaded by various news media outlets 1. The Print (Archived), 2. News18 Bihar Jharkhand ( Archived), according to the reports the video is from Bihar’s capital Patna where police lathi-charged the BJP workers who protested against the Nitish Kumar government’s teacher recruitment policy and other issues. Hence the video has nothing to do with the Haryana Police and riots in the Nuh district of Haryana.
Intent
Self-proclaimed journalists, social media influencers, and misinformation propaganda accounts are circulating out-of-context videos and falsely claiming to be from Mewat to set their propaganda over the communal violence that erupted on July 31st.
