Fact Check: AI Video Misleads on India–Burkina Faso Trade

A video of Burkina Faso’s Transitional President Ibrahim Traoré is being circulated with claims that he signed a $14 billion grain deal with India while criticizing U.S. President Donald Trump. This claim is entirely false. The video is AI-generated, and there are no credible or official reports confirming any such deal. These fabricated videos have been circulating on social media for several weeks without any reliable sources.

An Propagandist account @RealBababanaras post this video with the caption: “Africa’s soil is no longer silent—it speaks through wheat, maize & millet. Ibrahim Traoré’s $14B grain deal with India isn’t just trade—it’s power, dignity & a battle for who truly reaps Africa’s harvest.”

Other influencers, including @in20im, @Sheetal2242, and @AugadhBhudeva, also posted the video, falsely claiming that Traoré had secured a $14 billion grain deal with India and encouraging viewers to “listen carefully” to what he was saying about India.

Truth: The Viral Video Is AI-Generated, No Such Deal Exists

As this claim gained traction, it drew our attention. The D-Intent Data Team investigated using keyword research and verified credible sources. The video is entirely AI-generated. Our findings led us to the YouTube channel Ibrahim Traore Africa, which clearly states that the video is a work of fiction. Names, characters, places, and events are entirely products of the creator’s imagination. Any resemblance to real persons, living or dead, or actual events is purely coincidental. The content was created for entertainment purposes and should not be considered factual. Another channel, OneAfrica, posts videos claiming “Ibrahim Traore Secures $14 Billion MEGA GRAIN Deal with India!” AfricVibe News claims “Ibrahim Traore Lands MASSIVE $14 Billion Grain Deal with India!” and Traore The Unbeatable has posted videos like “Traore’s $56B Huge Nuclear Plant Deal With India SHOCKS France” and “Traore’s $15B Mega Oil Deal With India SHOCKS the West.” All of these videos are AI-generated, and there are no credible or official sources confirming any of these deals. These fabricated claims have been circulating on social media for several weeks, with multiple such fake videos appearing on YouTube, falsely suggesting massive deals between India and Burkina Faso.

Intent:
Influencers are circulating self-invented videos to mislead viewers about India–Burkina Faso relations, attempting to create a false narrative around trade and geopolitical influence.
