Fact Check: American DNA expert has stated that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is not the son of former PM Rajiv Gandhi?

A newspaper clipping is being widely circulated online, alleging that an American DNA expert has claimed Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is not the son of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. However, upon investigation, it has been confirmed that this claim is completely false and baseless, with no credible evidence to support it. No reputable media outlet or verified source has reported any such statement or study.

Sharing the news cutting on X (Formerly Twitter) @AlphaVictorVA wrote, “Well it is in the public domain that Sonia Gandhi refused to give Rahul’s DNA when Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated”.

Several other users, influencers and political workers have also disseminated the cutting and made similar claims. Their posts can be seen here, @TukaramBH, @SamirArunk75895, @Avni_Pandit1.

The truth about the viral postcard, Fact Check

As soon as the posts containing the image and claims came to our notice. Subsequently, we conducted research and analysis of the claims. We found these claims false and fabricated.

To verify the claims made by users, we conducted keyword searches but did not find any credible or verified sources to support them. Using Google Lens for a reverse image search, we traced the graphics back to social media posts that referenced both Rahul Gandhi and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. These claims were previously circulated in January and May 2019.

We also performed a Google search using the keywords “DNA expert Martin Sizo,” but found no credible articles or reports mentioning a DNA expert by that name. Additionally, we noticed several glaring punctuation and grammatical errors in the newspaper clipping. If the report had been published by a legitimate media organization, such errors would not have appeared in the copy. These issues are highlighted below:

Therefore, it is evident from D-Intent Data’s Fact Check that the viral news cutting is fake and fabricated. Nothing to do with reality.
