Fact Check: An old image of Karnataka’s tableau featuring Tipu Sultan falsely linked to the Republic Day 2025

An image showing Karnataka’s tableau featuring Tipu Sultan during a Republic Day parade is being shared online,  projecting it to be recent. In reality, this image is from the Republic Day Parade in 2014 and has no connection to Republic Day 2025. For the 76th Republic Day parade on January 26, 2025, Karnataka’s tableau showcased the intricate and artistic temples of the historic city of Lakkundi.

Sharing the image on X (Formerly Twitter) @SheikhZahir123 wrote, “Iconic tableau of Tipu sultan, the tiger of Mysore was a fearless ruler who stood as a symbol of resistance and progress. #RepublicDay2025”

Several other users, influencers and propagandists have also disseminated the image and made similar claims. Their posts can be seen here, @the_shrewd_dude, @drmerajhusain.

The truth behind the photo of Tipu Sultan, Fact Check 

As soon as the posts containing the image and claims came to our notice. Subsequently, we conducted research and analysis of the image. We found that the image was not recent but an old image from Republic Day 2013.

To verify the claims made by propagandists. We performed a reverse image search using Google Lens. This led us to a media report containing the same image published in January 2014. The report indicates that the image was from the Republic Day Parade in 2014 and has no connection to Republic Day 2025. Additionally, for the 76th Republic Day parade on January 26, 2025, Karnataka’s tableau showcased the intricate and artistic temples of the historic city of Lakkundi.

Therefore, it is evident from verified sources that the image of Karnataka Tableau featuring Tipu Sultan was not recent but an old image from 2014.
