Fact Check: Fake video of man posing as Indian Army Colonel spread with false claims

A video showing a uniformed individual making derogatory remarks about the Indian Army is being shared with claims that Colonel Rahul lost his patience and composure after his wife was harassed by Brigadier Rajiv in the Sapta Shakti Command. However, the truth is that this video is entirely fake and fabricated. The individual in the video is not a member of the Indian Army, and his uniform does not conform to the Indian Army’s dress code.

Sharing the video on X (Formerly Twitter), propagandist account @newstrackdaily wrote. “Received this video from a WhatsApp group of Indian Army Veterans. My unit officer, Colonel Rahul has ultimately lost his patience & composure when his wife got harassed by Brig Rajiv in Sapta Shakti Command. Strongly commend this dirty act. IA is truly promoting harassment & corruption both.” Later, the post disappeared due to the account’s suspension.

Another propaganda account @IntelTrackOps also shared the video and wrote, “Colonel Rahul has ultimately lost his patience & composure when his wife got harassed by Brig Rajiv in Sapta Shakti Command”. Later, his post disappeared as the account was suspended.

Several other users, influencers and propagandists have also disseminated the video and made similar claims. Their posts can be seen here: @PSYWAROPS, @MardeAzadIqbal, @Conflict_IntelX, @MahrukhKhan0, @SAChroniclesX, @ashoswain.

The truth about the video of man posing as Indian Army Colonel, Fact Check

As soon as the posts containing the video and claims came to our notice. Subsequently, we conducted research and analysis of the video. We found that the video was fake and claims were self-invented.

To verify the claims made by propagandists. We performed a reverse image search of some key frames from the viral video using Google Lens. We couldn’t find any verified sources supporting the claims. Additionally, we performed relevant keyword search but couldn’t find verified sources.

The individual in the video is not a member of the Indian Army, and his uniform does not conform to the Indian Army’s dress code. For instance, an Indian Army uniform includes two chest pockets, each with a flap secured by a single button— which is missing in this case. Additionally, the insignia appears to be made of paper. Furthermore, our thorough investigation found no verified, credible, or official sources confirming that any Indian Army Colonel made such a statement. This video has no connection to reality.

Therefore, it is evident from D-Intent Data’s Fact Check that the video was fake and fabricated propaganda.
