Fact Check: Image of overturned vehicle in accident shared as attack on the Indian Army’s vehicle

An image that shows an overturned badly damaged vehicle has been shared on social media platforms with a misleading claim that the vehicle belongs to the Indian Army and was attacked by militants in Kashmir. In which 3 Indian Army officers lost their lives, and three others were injured. The truth is that these claims are false and self-invented. However, D-Intent Data has found that the vehicle met with an accident in Kishtwar where three people lost their lives and three others were injured. None of them were from the army.

False claims about Image of overturned vehicle in accident circulated by propagandists

Pakistan-based anti-India propaganda accounts have shared the image of a badly damaged vehicle. And claimed that militants targeted the vehicle in Kashmir.

Sharing the image, Pakistan-based anti-India propaganda account @Pak1stTeam on X(Formerly Twitter) has said. “Goli Gadi Doda three Indian army offices dead and 3 other injured. After Kashmiri freedom fighters ambushed a vehicle of Indian occupation which was moving towards engagement site.”

Truth about the Image of overturned vehicle in accident, fact-check

As soon as the posts containing the image came to our knowledge, we conducted research and found news media reports about the image. According to the reports. The image is from an accident where three people were killed and as many were critically injured. When a car skidded off the road and plunged into a deep gorge in Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Neither did this vehicle belong to the Indian Armed Forces nor was there any terrorist attack on it.

Hence, it is evident from D-Intent Data’s fact-check that the image is from an accident where three people lost their lives and three others were injured. None of them were from the Army.
