Fact Check: Indian-origin Hindu individual was involved in the Hezbollah’s Pager Explosions in Lebanon?

On 17 and 18 September 2024, thousands of handheld pagers and hundreds of walkie-talkies intended for use by Hezbollah exploded simultaneously across Lebanon and Syria. Subsequently, claims surfaced on social media asserting that an Indian-origin Hindu individual was involved in the pager blasts in Lebanon. However, D-Intent Data has found that the claims about Indian-origin Hindu individuals are false and self-invented.

Making a post on X (Formerly Twitter) Bangladesh-based anti-India propaganda account @PREMIUMERZA wrote, “Shocked? I’m not. Told you, Zooo–onism and Hinnn–dutva, two flowers of the same stem. Their demands, agendas are all similar. Basically, Indians copied that ‘middle-east country’ and created their own new doctrine in last century.”

Indian Right-wing account @HPhobiaWatch also made a post and said, A Hindu Mallu from wayanad is the mastermind behind Pager explosions in Lebanon. You just can’t escape the wrath of Jeets online as well as offline.

The truth about the claims of Hezbollah’s Pager Explosions in Lebanon, Fact Check

As soon as the posts containing the image and claims came to our notice. Subsequently, we conducted research and analysis regarding the claims and found that the individual was not a Hindu but a Christian.

To verify the claims made by the users. We performed a relevant keyword search on Google. This led us to media reports regarding the news. According to the media reports, allegedly an Indian-origin man was involved in the pager blasts of Hezbollah. The report mentioned his name as Rinson Jose, a 37-year-old who left Wayanad, India for Norway a decade ago. Rinson Jose is not a Hindu name.

Therefore, it is evident from verified sources that the man was not a Hindu but a Christian individual who left India a decade ago.
