Fact Check: Old video of a woman slapping a biker and accusing him of molestation resurfaced with misleading and communal claims

A video circulating online shows a woman assaulting a man on a bike while accusing him of molestation. The video has been shared with claims that a Muslim man harassed a Hindu woman in Chhutmalpur, Saharanpur and that she retaliated by beating him. However, the truth is that this video is from July 2021 and is unrelated to any Hindu woman or molestation allegations.

Sharing the video on X (Formerly Twitter) serial fake news peddler and propagandist account @ajaychauhan41 wrote. “In Saharanpur’s Chhutmalpur, a brave Hindu woman taught a good lesson to a Jihadi after he molested her”

Several other users, influencers and propagandists have also shared the video and made similar claims. Their posts can be seen here, @SilentHill115, @Lawyer_Kalpana, @Bharatrastrsena

The truth about the viral video of a woman slapping a biker, Fact Check

As soon as the posts containing the video and claims came to our notice. Subsequently, we conducted research and analysis of the incident and found that the video was not related to a Hindu woman, but an old video involving a Muslim woman and a Muslim man. Also, the incident had nothing to do with molestation.

To verify the claims made by the users. We performed a reverse image search of some key frames from the viral video on Google Lens. This led us to a social media post on X (Formerly Twitter) containing the same video where we found Saharanpur Police’s response containing the woman’s statement in the comments section.

As per the video statement, the woman in the video is Taslim, the wife of Naushad, who clarified that she was confronting the man, Shakib, over a money-related dispute. Hence, the incident has no connection to the molestation of any Hindu woman.

Therefore, it is evident from D-Intent Data‘s Fact Check that the viral video was not related to a Hindu woman and molestation accusations. But an old incident involving both the accused and the victim from the Muslim community.
