The truth about the video of a couple was harassed in Cumilla, Fact Check
As soon as the posts containing the video and claims came to our notice. Subsequently, we conducted research and analysis of the video. We found that the video was not recent but an old incident from 2022.
To verify the claims made by the users and Influencers. We performed a relevant keyword search and found media reports regarding the incident. According to reports (1, 2), the incident actually occurred in Cumilla in 2022. Some youths reportedly locked a man and a woman in a room to extort money and filmed them naked. Locals claimed the victims were a married couple living in a rented house in Gauripur Bazar of the upazila, but the police could not verify their marital status. While the accused have been identified, the victim could not be located. The video came to light in December 2023, but the incident occurred in 2022.
Therefore, it is evident from verified sources that the video was old and unrelated to crimes under Muhammad Yunus’s interim government.
