Fact Check: Scripted video of bride fainting after seeing groom in Bangladesh circulated with misleading claims

A viral video depicting a young bride fainting upon seeing her elderly, bearded groom sitting next to her has been widely shared, with claims that it captures a real-life incident in Bangladesh. However, the footage is staged and not an authentic event. It was produced and shared by a Facebook page named “Wedding Studio,” which specializes in creating and sharing such scripted content.

Sharing the video on X (Formerly Twitter) @ImtiazMadmood wrote, “In an arranged marriage in Bangladesh, the young girl fainted when she saw the person she was married to.”

Serial fake news peddler and propagandist account @FrontalForce also shared the video and wrote, “A Muslim bride faints on noticing an 80-year-old groom. This practice is very common in Islam.”

The truth about the video of bride fainting after seeing groom, Fact Check 

As soon as the posts containing the video and claims came to our notice. Subsequently, we conducted research and analysis of the video. We found that the video was not a real-life situation but scripted content.

To verify the claims made by the users. We performed a reverse image search of some key frames from the viral video using Google Lens. This led us to a Facebook post containing the same video. Upon visiting the timeline of the Facebook account we found multiple videos (1, 2) depicting similar activities. The video was created and shared by a Facebook page called “Wedding Studio,” which is known for producing and posting such staged content. According to the bio on the page, it is based in Saudi Arabia and linked to Bangladesh.

Therefore, it is evident from verified sources that the video was not a real-life situation but scripted content.

Influencers are circulating scripted videos with misleading claims to get the spotlight on social media.
