A disturbing video depicting a severely injured woman on a brick road at night has been widely circulated, falsely claiming to be from Bangladesh. The video shows the woman unable to speak due to severe facial injuries. In reality, the incident occurred in West Bengal, India, where a woman was brutally murdered in the Bakultala area of Jaynagar.

Sharing the video on X (Formerly Twitter) @Bangladesh_Fact wrote, “Naked women! Naked mothers and sisters! Naked red freedom…! This is not a movie shoot! This is the image of the new country of the fascist Yunus, who nurtures militancy as an inferior race! #StepDownYunus #SaveBangladesh” (Translated from Bengali)

Propaganda account @ajaychauhan41 also shared the video and wrote, “Naked women! Mother and sister stripped naked! Naked red freedom…! This is not a film shoot! This is an anti-Hindu picture of the new country of the Islamic Yunus government of Bangladesh which promotes extremism”. (Translated from Hindi).

The truth about the video shared as Woman murdered in Bangladesh, Fact Check 

As soon as the posts containing the sensitive video and claims came to our notice. Subsequently, we conducted research and analysis of the incident. We found that the video was not from Bangladesh but India’s West Bengal.

To verify the claims made by the users. We performed relevant keyword searches and reverse image searches of some key frames from the viral video using Google Lens. This led us to several media reports regarding the incident. According to reports (1, 2, 3, 4), the video is actually from West Bengal, India, where a woman was recently brutally murdered in the Bakultala police station area of Jayanagar, South 24 Parganas district. The woman was hacked and her head was crushed in the attack. Authorities are working to verify the identity of the victim and are making efforts to identify and arrest the perpetrator.

Therefore, it is evident from verified sources that the video was not from Bangladesh but from India’s West Bengal.
