Fact Check: The Video of a burqa woman assaulting a man publicly in Kanpur circulated with misleading claims

A video showing a burqa-clad woman repeatedly assaulting a man in a public market has been shared with a misleading claim that a Hindu man harassed a Muslim woman and was subsequently beaten by her in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. However, the truth is that the man has been identified as Adnan, son of the late Abdul Mabud, confirming that he is not from the Hindu community.

Sharing the video on X (Formerly Twitter), @Karishma_voice wrote, “As soon as the burqa was seen, the Asaram DNA of the hateful blind devotee got awakened. Anyway, that sister was also awake, so she was properly rewarded for her action.” Later, she deleted the post.

Serial fake news peddler and propagandist account @AsianDigest also shared the video and wrote, “Poopjeet was sexually harassing a Muslim woman in Uttar Pradesh. She taught him a lesson”

The truth about the video of burqa woman assaulting a man, Fact Check 

As soon as the posts containing the video and claims came to our notice. Subsequently, we conducted research and analysis of the video. We found that the man was not a Hindu but a Muslim.

To verify the claims made by propagandists. We performed a relevant keyword search and found the Police statement regarding the incident. According to the police, the man has been identified as Adnan, son of the late Abdul Mabud. Hence indicating that he is not from the Hindu community. As per the police, the incident occurred on February 25, 2025, in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh.

Therefore, it is evident from verified sources that the accused was not a Hindu individual but a Muslim man identified as Adnan.

Propagandists are circulating videos from Kanpur with misleading claims to set their narrative against a particular community.
