Fact Check: Video of fake human sacrifice from Bangladesh shared as India’s West Bengal

A video showing individuals performing fake human sacrifice rituals in front of idols at a temple is being shared with the false claim that it originates from West Bengal, India. However, our investigation reveals that the video is actually from Tangail, Bangladesh.

Sharing the video on X (Formerly Twitter), propaganda account @INDStoryS wrote, Hey @grok ji tell us whether such practice of sacrifice by Brahminists is right/hypocrisy? Brahminism is flourishing in West Bengal. Hypocrisy in the name of religion! Disgusting game of human sacrifice in Chandi crematorium Kali temple Tangail – watch the video.. (Translated from Hindi).

Another propaganda account @gohil_giri98466 also shared the video and wrote, “This is Hinduism. You cannot slaughter a cow, but you can slaughter a living human being” (Translated from Hindi).

Several other users, influencers and propagandists have also disseminated the video and made similar claims. Their posts can be seen here, @asthayadav2003, @SinghS72228

The truth about the viral video shared as human sacrifice, Fact Check

As soon as the posts containing the video and claims came to our notice. Subsequently, we conducted research and analysis of the video. We found that the video was from Bangladesh, not India.

To verify the claims made by propagandists. We performed a reverse image search of some keyframes from the viral video using Google Lens. This led us to the original post on Facebook, uploaded on March 20, 2025. Facebook caption reads “Norbali, Joy ma kali, Chandi cremation Kali temple, Patrail (District Tangail) (20/03/2025) Puja is celebrated with people. But people have to act like victims. So not a scapegoat. All human bodies are underground. Someone’s head, someone’s body. Acting like a victim. Jai Maa Kali”. ( Translated from Bengali).

The location mentioned in the video is Chandi cremation Kali temple in District Tangail which is located in Bangladesh.

Therefore, it is evident from D-Intent Data’s Fact Check that the video was fake and unrelated to West Bengal, India.
