As soon as the posts containing the video and claims came to our notice. Subsequently, we conducted research and analysis of the incident. We found that the individual was from the Muslim community, not Hindu..

To verify the claims made by the users. We performed a reverse image search of some keyframes from the viral video using Google Lens. This led us to several media reports regarding the claims. Verified reports (1, 2, 3, 4) and credible sources confirm that the deceased was identified as Nayan Mia, not Sumon, and he was not a member of the Hindu community.

Additionally, authorities reported that the body, identified as an auto-rickshaw driver with bound hands and feet, was recovered from the Brahmaputra River in the Darikandi area of Sonargaon Upazila, Narayanganj, by the Naval Police on January 28.
