Old video of a crowd chasing vehicles in Bharatpur, Rajasthan shared as Hathras stampede

Recently, at least 121 people have reportedly died and several others have been injured at a stampede during a religious event (Satsang) at a village in Uttar Pradesh’s Hathras. A video of a crowd chasing vehicles in Bharatpur, Rajasthan shared as Hathras stampede crowd has gone viral on social media platforms and claimed it to be from Hathras stampede.

The video purportedly shows a massive crowd including security guards chasing some vehicle passing through the crowded ground. However, D-Intent Data has found that this is an old video from Bharatpur, Rajasthan.

A video that shows a massive crowd in an open ground and some of them, including security guards chasing vehicles, has been shared, claiming to be from Hathras stampede.

Sharing the video an account @Bantiravan123 on X(Formerly Twitter) has said. “Hathras — Video of stampede among people who went to attend Bhole Baba’s satsang in Sikandrarao, goes viral. It is being said that 120 people have died.A policeman died of a heart attack after seeing the dead bodies!After all, what about these Babas?”

Another user @Mohd36125817 has also shared the video and said. “Watch the video and see how a stampede broke out after Bhole Baba’s satsang in Hathras. It is being said that 120 people have died.A policeman died of a heart attack after seeing so many dead bodies!. Who allowed these Babas to gather such a huge crowd?”

Truth about the video of a crowd chasing vehicles in Bharatpur, Rajasthan

As soon as the video came to our knowledge, we tried to find if the claims are true or false. We ran a reverse image search of some key frames from the viral video on Google. Which led us to a YouTube video containing the same visuals. The video was uploaded in Feb 2024 with a description. “Mangal Divas Rupwas Bharatpur Rajasthan, Narayan Sarkar Hari ke Bhajan, Sataya ka saath Rajasthan”.

Hence, it is evident from D-Intent Data’s fact-check that the video is not recent and has nothing to do with Hathras stampede. The video is not from Hathras but from Rajasthan’s Bharatpur.

Influencers are circulating old videos from different locations claiming to be from the Hathras stampede to create panic among people.
