Social media users are sharing a video of multiple people chanting religious prayers and carrying a deceased person on their shoulders. Then, as police sirens blare in the background, the video shows the people scattering in all directions and the alleged dead emerging from the white covers and running.

According to users, the Old Video of People Carrying Dead depicts Palestinians carrying funeral amid the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict.

Analysis and Fact

The video that went viral on social media has nothing to do with Palestine and Israel.

The original video of the group of people carrying a coffin to the cemetery to bury the deceased is actually from the Kingdom of Jordan.

The fictitious deceased person fled to his house before the police could arrest him, and they did so as soon as they heard the police whistle and left the coffin on the ground. Later, it was discovered that some young people were attempting to violate the prohibition set by the Jordanian government out of concern for the Corona virus’s potential to spread.

Claim- Users have said that this video depicts Palestinians are carrying a dead body chanting religious prayers and the boy fell victim to the Israeli airstrike in the midst of the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict.

Fact- The claim is false and unrelated to the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas. In order to circumvent COVID-19 restrictions, Jordanians are shown in this 2020 video staging a “fake funeral”.
