A pair of pictures are circulating with the false assertion that Israeli Colonel Yair Shalam, the commander of the attack on Gaza, has been arrested.
Wajidkhan (“@realwajidkhan“) made a tweet from Valhalla Hebrew website, claming that on the edge of the Bridge Camp, the Israeli army took a terrible hit. Like the toys and dolls, the army tanks are on fire. The commander of the attack on Borez Camp, Colonel Yair Shalam, was reportedly taken hostage. The two images are also being shared by the user. The tweet was made on Oct 28, 2023 and has received an about 59.8k views on X.

What is the Actual Reality About the Incident? : Fact
The truth is, those photos are not associated with any ongoing conflict and belong to separate people.
The first picture features politician Viktor Medvedchuk from Ukraine, who has been living in exile in Russia since September 2022. He has stated that Putin is the godfather of his daughter, who was detained by Ukraine. The second picture shows former Israel Defence Forces (IDF) major general Yair Golan.
We visited ntnews which attached the video of the same viral image with the headline “Putin’s right hand man captured in Ukraine”. The original video is from April 13, 2022.
Another viral picture was published in an article by THE WASHINGTON INSTITUTE for Near East Policy. The image features Former Israel Defence Forces (IDF) major general Yair Golan served as a military fellow at The Washington Institute in 2017. General Golan was the IDF’s deputy chief of staff before.
