What is the Actual Truth About this Incident? : Fact
The image depicted here is an old one, of a girl killed by her father for marrying against the family’s wishes. November 2022 was the month of the incident. The boy she married was named Chhatrapal, according to the police. Irrespective of an interfaith love story, this incident is actually old.
We visited The Indian Express, which published an article on this incident on November 19, 2022 with the headline “Woman’s body found in suitcase on Yamuna Expressway in Mathura”. Another article by Times of India was also posted on Nov 23, 2022 with the headline “Honour killing: Parents of Delhi woman whose body was found inside suitcase in Mathura arrested”. This clarifies that the incident is actually old.

We made a previous tweet related to this same incident on Dec 3, 2022, which also shows that there were misleading claims that images of a young girl’s body discovered on the Yamuna Motorway in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, went viral. Many users claimed that the girl had been murdered by her Muslim boyfriend. But, we discovered that the girl actually left the house without telling her father. Her father became enraged and shot her after she returned to home. He then wrapped her body in plastic, placed it inside a trolley bag and disposed of the bag on Mathura, Uttar Pradesh’s Yamuna Motorway. It had nothing to do with love Jihad.
