Wrestler Vinesh Phogat Out Of Paris Olympics qualification Race? Fact-Check 

Influencers claimed that wrestler Vinesh Phogat, who was defeated at the National Trials in the 53kg weight category, she had failed to represent India at the upcoming Olympic. She was one of the wrestlers who wanted to ‘Immerse Medals ” in Ganga.

Verified accounts on twitter, including @MrSinha_ tweeted “After Bajrang Puniya, Vinesh Phogat also lost in National trials & missed a chance to represent India in Olympics. A young wrestler Anju defeated her by 10-0.. Yes 10-0, it was a one sided match. I wish she was more interested in her game, instead of protesting for political reasons..” on March 11, 2024. The tweet has received an about 972.1k views on X.

Several other accounts, including @VertigoWarrior, @rishibagree, @_tapabrata_jana made the same claim that Wrestler Vinesh Phogat loses 0-10 to the junjor wrestler Anju in the 53 kg category in semifinals. In the 50kg weight category, she won 11-6 against Shivani to secure a spot in the Paris Olympics Qualification tournament in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, the following month. She competed in the 50 kg and 53 kg weight categories. In the 53kg division, she was defeated  one-sided 0–10 by Anju in the match. But Ravi Dahiya and Bajrang Punia were disqualified from the Paris Olympics qualifying race. In the women’s 50kg semifinals of the Asian Olympic qualifier on Saturday(20/04/24), Vinesh Phogat defeated Laura Ganikyzy of Kazakhstan 10-0 to secure the Paris 2024 quota. Vinesh Phogat will now face Aktenge Keunimjaeva of Uzbekistan, who defeated Chinese Taipei’s Meng Hsuan Hsieh 4-2. In 4:18 minutes, Phogat—a Commonwealth and Asian Games champion—won the battle. For nearly two years, Vinesh was out of action and engaged in protests against Brij Bhushan Saran Singh, the former president of WFI. She took part in two weight categories in the trials and won a 50 kg trial to qualify for the Asian Olympics. In her opening round, Vinesh displayed her skill in the wrestling arena with a faultless performance. In the round of 16, she decisively defeated Cheon Miran of South Korea, winning 10-0. She achieved another quick victory in her quarter final match against Dit Samnang of Cambodia, obtaining victory by fall (VFA) in less than a minute.
